AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL

I got recommended watching Australian Footy also known as Ozzy Rules. Jay, my host teacher, is a huge fan. I watched the game Sydney Swans vs. Hawthorn (Hawks), supporting Hawthorn together with Chloe (it's her favorite team)! Unfortunately, Jack was in Belgium. Next game we'll watch with him!
The game is divided in four quarters of each 20 minutes. In reality, the quarters are longer than 20 minutes, pausing the time at every set piece. Watching the entire game took 2 hours and 30 minutes! "Worth the money, if you watch live." There's 18 players on the field of each team. The field is way bigger than a soccer field I'm used to. Australian football reminds me of a mixture of American Football, Gaelic Football and a bit of soccer. People get easily injured and there are a lot of little incidents between players every 5 minutes (see photo). You can score either 1 or 6 points by kicking the ball between the middle two poles or between the poles next to the middle ones. The game was very close as Hawthorn and Sydney Swans had the same amount of points until the last 2 minutes. Roughead converted his set shot with 80 seconds remaining winning the game with 81 to 76!
By the way, I also tasted Australian Vegemite. Not recommending, sorry Chloe.
